Changing trends in HRM today
Human Resource Management (HRM)
is a process of aligning people with organizational objectives. The major
objective of HRM is to develop the productive contribution of personnel to the
organization in more social, ethical and administratively responsible way.
Successful organizations are aligning their
vision with business driven culture and use HRM as a tool for it (ALBU &
Danila, 2009) Today, the HR experts are mainly
focusing on Motivation, Change agent, Policies, relations and quality
consciousness.Motivation
make employees feel like winners and reduce their fear on change in
technological and other related aspects. HR policies mainly based on equity,
consensus, openness and trust.Establishment of a
healthy work place and fair treatment of an employees is very important today.
In twenty first century Human
Resource Management face in many challenges in present business scenario. One
of the famous trend in global context is Globalization, it is the
process of denationalization of politics, legal system and markets.
Globalization created world trade and financial trade more familiar (Srivastava
& Agarwal, 2012) On the other hand HRM affected in
many ways because of Globalization, such as language barriers, unfamiliar laws,
issues in practices, creating huge competition, various management styles and work
ethics.
Workforce Diversity has
also been introduced as another major changing trend in HRM, which means
differences and similarities among employees in terms of age, ancestry,
physical qualities and abilities, sexual origination, ethnicity, gender, educational
background, marital status, income, geographic location, religious beliefs and
work experience.
Revolution in Information
Technology – today, information technology has directly influenced on HRM
through Human Resource Information System (HRIS). It creates more easy way to
get data and employee information on time.
Cloud Computing is another major trend in global
context in HRM today. It has also been introduced in the field of HRM for
achieving innovative solutions for organization‘s sustainability. Since the
last couple of years, there has been a remarkable change in HRM with the advent
of cloud computing. (Truong,
2010) Argued that cloud computing as a
virtualized, self-maintained and managed platform that provides customers with
a variety of scalable resources demand.
The demand In HRM is
equally copious. As Jose & pillai (2015) described Organizations need to deal with an ageing workforce;
they must attract, integrate and maintain multicultural employment pools. As a
rule human resource management has to venture into new trends in order to
remain relevant corporate development partner
